During the first PhD Day of the Italian Association of Archaeometry (AIAr, Rome, 2 October 2025), Lorena Bravi, Martina Naso and Massimiliano Puntin will present ADE (Automatic Detector Element), the first concrete result of the SAGAS (Semantic Archaeometric Graph Analysis System) project, created to overcome data fragmentation in archaeometric research, particularly data obtained using non-invasive techniques such as portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF). ADE is a web application based on Python and Dash that allows users to upload spectral data from pXRF, perform manual or automatic recognition of elemental peaks and visually compare spectra in a single interactive dashboard. The results can be exported in both graphical and textual form. This prototype, initially designed for qualitative analysis, shows how open-source tools can simplify the preliminary stages of archaeometric analysis. It also lays the foundations for future developments such as semantic data modelling and classification using machine learning, with the aim of making spectroscopic data truly comparable, reusable and shareable across different disciplines. Today, archaeometric data is often produced in heterogeneous formats that are difficult to compare or reuse. SAGAS aims to integrate this information into a single, open and searchable environment, modelling relationships between analyses, types of finds, metadata and interpretations, with an initial focus on ceramics.
