XIII European Congress of Entomology (ECE 2026)

XIII European Congress of Entomology (ECE 2026), to be held at the Centre de Congrès Vinci, Tours (France), from 29 June to 3 July, is the main European event for the scientific community working on insects. It brings together researchers to discuss topics ranging from insect biodiversity and ecology to archaeoentomology, through to applications in areas such as biological pest control and ecosystem health.

“Landscape Reconstruction from Roman Pit Fauna at Marcon (Venice, Italy): The Contribution of Archaeoentomology” – Matilde Stelli, Michael Monzon
The contribution presents the preliminary results of the archaeoentomological analysis carried out on insect remains from a Roman-period well (2000 ± 40 BP), excavated in 2000 on the Zuccarello estate at Marcon (Venice). The aim of the analysis is to reconstruct the ancient landscape using insects as environmental and anthropogenic activity indicators, integrating the entomological data into the broader context of the multidisciplinary analyses conducted at the site.
