Conference "Opening Research Assessment"

The Conference on Opening Research Assessment, organised within the framework of the European project GraspOS, is dedicated to the transformation of research assessment systems in the light of Open Science, promoting transparency, inclusiveness, and the recognition of all forms of scientific contribution (data, software, infrastructures, collaborative practices).
The event addresses crucial issues for the academic community and European research infrastructures, in particular the construction of open and federated infrastructures supporting responsible assessment.
We are interested in it because it directly concerns policies and practices for recognising open research, in line with the FAIR principles. We will present a poster entitled: “Our precious open data: the MAPPALab framework for open archaeological data”, dedicated to the MAPPALab digital ecosystem, developed at the University of Pisa, which promotes the open management, preservation, and valorisation of archaeological data.
In a field where excavation entails the irreversible loss of stratigraphy, digital documentation and the adoption of FAIR standards ensure transparency, traceability, and data reusability.
The framework integrates three main tools: MOD, an open-access repository for data and grey literature; ALD, a journal dedicated to archaeological datasets; and MAGOH, a geographic platform for the publication of territorial data.
MAPPALab embodies the principles of Open Science and responsible research assessment, recognising datasets as genuine research outputs and promoting sustainability and open access to cultural heritage.
