Paintings and architectural contexts: methodologies and tools for an integrated reading is the theme of the 16th International Congress of the International Association for Ancient Wall Painting, which will take place in Sardinia between 22 and 27 September.
In collaboration with Lorella Alderighi and Ilaria Benetti (SABAP Pisa & Livorno), Massimiliano Puntin presents a study on the painted plasterwork on the ceiling of a room from the Linguella site on the Island of Elba, analysed from a decorative and archaeometric point of view. The research aims to reconstruct the decorative scheme of the room, identifying comparisons with other contexts that have similar stylistic features. Archaeometric investigations have also made it possible to characterise the colour palette used in ancient times, highlighting technical specificities related to the methods of pigment application.
