This week Claudia Sciuto and the students of MAPPALab are testing the new hyperspectral portal camera to discover which applications would be useful for the archaeological fieldwork. The camera has been experimented to the acquisition and rendering of images on samples of different materials, from stone to bricks, from painted plasters to ceramic sherds, up to the soil profile on the excavation. Through the elaboration of spectral maps, it is possible to obtain information on the texture and composition of materials.
